Could this be the best short bushwalk in NSW? The Drip Gorge follows the babbling Goulburn River, past rugged and majestic sandstone cliffs, overhangs and caves.
Arguably the Mudgee region’s best natural attraction, The Drip walking track is a 25-minute drive from Gulgong, or a little longer from Mudgee. It’s a 2.8-kilometre return walk, suitable for all ages. Most bushwalks take you to a view, but this walk has inspiring scenery around every turn. You’ll walk beneath enormous overhangs, through caves, across a small creek, and beside cliffs covered in moss. All the while, you follow the Goulburn River as it winds between the ancient sandstone gorge.
When you finally arrive at the Drip Gorge you’ll be rewarded with a pool of cool water beside the Great Dripping Wall to dip your feet. The wall itself is a cliff that drips clear spring water and provides a natural air conditioner on a hot day. It’s a special place for the Wiradjuri people and a must-see if you are in the area.
